Look Closer by Peter Ziebel
We explored the world around us using binoculars, magnifying glasses and colour paddles. The children made look closer pictures by cutting and pasting large magazine pictures onto a piece of construction paper. We then cut a small hole from another paper and stapled it on top to create a book. The children looked at each other's pictures with just the square showing; trying to guess what the picture was. The children took their creations home, but this would make a great book for the classroom for all to share and enjoy.
We created blotto pictures and took turns identifying what we saw in the pictures. I recorded each child's response and attached the paper to each blotto. These look great on display in the play room.
A Pair of Socks by Stuart J. Murphy
We had so much fun exploring the concepts in this book. The children matched socks, played sock toss by throwing bunched up socks into a laundry basket. We also tossed socks to each other and up in the air and tried to catch them. I printed this sock matching game for the children to use during child directed play time.
We used the sock template below to decorate a pair of socks.
We made super cute sock puppets.
