Scarecrow Addition Puzzles

It's Sunday... sun is shining and the weatherman who just yesterday forecasted a day of rain has changed his mind and now none of the wet stuff will be falling so it's going to be another beautiful fall day.

After Thanksgiving, we are moving on to our Scarecrow Unit - I created these puzzles to introduce adding before putting out the Scarecrow Dice Game that I posted on Friday.

TGIF

OMG... so glad this week is over - the kids have been great, but they are all fighting colds and now so am I... I am looking forward to a nice weekend of rest and hopefully feeling much better by Monday morning.  Here is another scarecrow game - enjoy!

Apple Counting

I created this counting mat for children to practice counting and recognizing numerals to ten.  It's a great activity to go with the song Ten Red Apples.  Enjoy!

Ten Red Apples

10 red apples growing  on a tree
Farmer Brown  picked an apple
And gave it all to me
Leaving 9 red apples growing on a tree.

9 red apples growing on a tree
Farmer Brown picked an apple
And gave it all to me
Leaving 8 red apples growing on a tree.

8 red apples growing on a tree
Farmer Brown picked an apple
And gave it all to me
Leaving 7 red apples growing on a tree.
7 red apples growing on a tree
Farmer Brown picked an apple
And gave it all to me
Leaving 6 red apples growing on a tree.

6 red apples growing on a tree
Farmer Brown picked an apple
And gave it all to me
Leaving 5 red apples growing on a tree.

5 red apples growing on a tree
Farmer Brown picked an apple
And gave it all to me
Leaving 4 red apples growing on a tree.

4 red apples growing on a tree
Farmer Brown picked an apple
And gave it all to me
Leaving 3 red apples growing on a tree.

Farmer Brown picked an apple
And gave it all to me
Leaving 2 red apples growing on a tree.

Apple Picking Time

I cannot believe how incredibly fast my days are flying by!  It is so nice to have a full and busy crew.  We can't do a fall unit without enjoying the fruit of the season... apples.  This week, I will be posting some games and activities that I have created... enjoy!

Fall Word Families

I can't wait for all the colours of fall to appear.  The trees haven't turned yet, but soon we will be seeing the beautiful reds, oranges, and yellows mixed in with the green leaves.  I created this word family sorting game using the bright colours that will adorn the trees in the next few weeks.

Heading Into Fall

I just love the cool crisp days of Fall.  It's raining today, but the clouds smiled upon us and held off until noon rather than the 8 a.m. forecasted arrival time for the wet stuff so we were still able to get outside and have a wonderful time at the ball park before being stuck indoors.  The next two weeks we will be starting our Fall unit and then moving on to Scarecrows so stay tuned for some new freebies coming your way :).

All About Me Around the Net

I've been searching the net for ideas to add to our 'All About Me' theme unit.  There are some wonderful freebies on TPT!  This Dr. Suess All About Me Freebie from The Art of Teaching is adorable.  Sue McDonald has an All About Me Finish Me Book.  Kelly Findsen is offering a set of three All About Me Posters.  I love this About Me! Cube by Michelle Walker.  These Literacy Worksheets by Ann Richmond Fisher are a nice addition to the unit.  I want to thank all the creators above for offering their work for free and enriching programs everywhere :).
