Fireworks Craft

Today we painted fireworks onto black paper.  I found this really cool water sponge toy tutorial from Makes and Takes on Pinterest and thought wow... what a great painting tool.  So... I created the sponge toy and tweaked it to turn it into a sponge brush and we used the brushes to paint fireworks for our New Years craft today.

Here's how to create the brush...

For each brush, you need 2 sponges, an elastic, and a popsicle stick.

Cut each sponge into 3 equal pieces.

Gather the sponge pieces and place an elastic around the centre - wrapping several times.

It will look like this :).

Add a popsicle stick and twist it into the elastic to secure the handle for your brush.

Once it's secure, position the popsicle stick in the centre.

Have fun painting!

It's that time of year again... when we start thinking about our New Year's resolutions... and usually we have broken most of them by January 2nd!  Last year I actually maintained ONE of my resolutions throughout the entire year... go me!  This year, hopefully, I'll add to that success :).
Funny thing about children and resolutions, they are brutally honest.  I had one little girl write down that she was going to keep her playroom clean.  When I commented on what a great resolution that was and how happy her Mom will be, she looked at me and said... 'It's not like I'm actually going to do it'!!!  I guess little eyes are watching what we do with ours LOL.

Enjoy this colouring page with your little ones...

Santa Clause Comes Tonight!

It's Christmas Eve!  Yesterday was our childcare Christmas party - the children were so sweet exchanging presents.  This is just a quick note to wish everyone HAPPY HOLIDAYS and to upload the final set of worksheets to compliment the No Time Like Snowtime matching game.  Enjoy!

Almost Here

Hi everyone... I'm having a wonderful holiday season - my shopping is done, wrapping is done, menu planned for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day... only a couple of last minute things to pick up and a bit of baking left to do.  I hope you are enjoying a stress-free week too!
Here is another addition to the Snow Time game... enjoy!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow...

Woke up this morning to the white stuff on the ground... granted it was less than 1 cm., but snow is snow... RIGHT!!!  I'm a northern Ontario girl at heart and just love the first real snow of the season.  They are forecasting rain for this coming week, but I'm hoping the temps stay low enough that it will come down as flakes instead of drops.
I'll be adding some additional activities to go with the Snow Time game and here is the first one.  Enjoy these 2 worksheets with your children :).
